London, May 2018 – Every chef tries to express himself, through his culinary creations. Restaurant Story is Chef Tom Sellers’ channel to express himself, his story, his memories of his family and of the British heritage.
Our New Yorker friends had been raving about this restaurant for a few years, and it was a rare occasion that we were all in London. This was their favourite restaurant, and of course, we had to try it. Though the restaurant only has one Michelin star, the entire dinner – presentation, taste, service, wine – felt like a three Michelin stars experience.
We had the 8-course dinner, GBP100++. Aside from the 8-courses, there were quite a few amuse bouche to start with.
Cod fish skin chip, cod fish mousse
Storeos – goat cheese fillings…yes, think Oreos.
Polenta with Chicken
Belgium platinum caviar with Bellini
Snail ravioli , filled with roasted snail
Homemade bread, candle made of beef fat, celery dip, beef extract
Heirloom Tomato with tomato veloutée
Monkfish with champagne fish broth foam
Mash potato with asparagus
Poulet from Birmingham , white and dark meat
Pre Dessert – shaved foie gras, French toast , clementine marmalde – Chef Sellers said that he was inspired by Paddington Bear
Lemon dessert – lemon sorbet, crumbs
Dill & almonds – we loved this dessert, simply delicious!
It took us 4 hours to finish this amazing dinner. Restaurant Story is smart casual, so the ambience is lively, yet elegant. One of the best ways to experience modern British gastronomy!
