London, June 2018– At first, I was hesitant to dine at Sexy Fish after reading several unfavourable reviews. Since I was attracted by the décor featuring artworks by Damien Hirst, Frank Gehry and other artists, Mr. King and I decided to grab a quick lunch there. We were glad we did.
Located at Berkeley Square, the swanky restaurant served modern Asian cuisine. The bar with the Frank Gehry’s Fishes swimming overhead was a stunning sight. Meanwhile, another Gehry creation – the 13ft Crocodile sculpture crawled along the opposite wall, across the dining room. The décor was quite whimsical.
The Kuikku lunch set (GBP36++) consisted of 4 dishes plus dessert. The menu offered a wide variety -15 choices for us to choose from.
Each dish was like a tapa, but we ended up with 8 dishes since each of us got to select 4 dishes. Actually, it was a very generous portion. The Japanese and Korean inspired dishes were delicious.
Crispy Tofu, Salad Greens & Honey Chilli
Iceberg Salad
Roasted Pumpkin & Eringi Mushroom
Grilled Chicken Breast & Kimchi
Salmon Terayaki & Yuzu Hollandaise
Miso Marinated Grilled Sea Bass
Beef Picantou Chimichurri
The dessert was a pair of “sexy lips”, a deconstructed raspberry crumble.
Contrary to the poor reviews we read online, we found the servers to be friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had an enjoyable experience at Sexy Fish. Although it doesn’t have a Michelin star, it was been given a Michelin The Plate distinction.
