Ministry of Crab

Colombo, April 2018– The most well-known restaurant in Colombo is undoubtedly Ministry of Crab.  It has been garnered quite a few accolades, including making the Asia’s Best 50 Restaurants list for the 5thconsecutive year.

MO Crab Kitchen

Located inside the 400-year old Dutch Hospital, the restaurant has a warm and trendy feeling to it. Diners are seated at one of the long communal tables.  Sri Lanka Chef Dharshan Munidasa is at the helm of the buzzling open kitchen.

MO Crab

MOC specializes in Sri Lankan crabs –starting at ½ kilo, small size to Jumbo to Colossal to OMG to Crabzilla.

The crabs can be prepared in a few different ways – pepper crab, chilli crab, garlic crab and curry crab. Mr. King & I selected a “Kilo Krab” (1 Kilogram in weight) and chose to have it cooked in the garlic style, which was very tasty.

Aside from crabs, the menu also offers a selection of non-crab items, like salads, vegetables and grilled shrimps.

It was a really fun dining experience. We loved the “BE CALM AND CRAB ON” bibs for every diner.   This is indeed the home of the Sri Lankan crab !
