Phuket, December 2015 – Summer is fast-approaching, and that got me to thinking about our family vacations. One of the best places to bring children of all ages is a resort. For me, Banyan Tree Resort in Phuket, Thailand is an ideal place for kids, but also for Mr. King and me.
Banyan Tree Resort is located on beautiful Bang Tao Bay, which boasts one of the most scenic beaches on the island. The luxury resort offers all villas from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms, so it is perfect for families.
Mr. King and I took Little K, our toddler son on vacation there. We rented the 2-bedroom villa (which is really a three bedroom if you count the study room with sofa bed). The villa can easily accommodate 6 people.
With the view of our private pool, the spacious living and dining room is a wonderful place to relax. There is also a fully equipped kitchen if one wants to cook or make a quick bit.
The pool is not a dipping pool…so it is good for laps or just some splash-splash with the kids.
Each villa has its own private pool, but there are also two more communal pools – one where currents push you along the water, and another lap-pool for adults only.
One can just relax and laze around in this elegant Thai villa. The service is impeccable at this resort. We had a BBQ by our pool one evening. The table was set perfectly. The chef was preparing and serving each dish while we watched and sipped champagne!

Another activity that we enjoyed was watching the sunset on the beach while my son made sand castles.
Together with the neighboring resorts including Angsana, Dusit Thani and Outrigger, they form a community called the “Laguna” area. Within the vicinity, there is a mall called “Canal Village” with cafes and small boutiques. Just outside the Laguna, one can find other eateries from local Thai cuisine to Italian cuisine.
I almost forgot to mention about the sumptuous breakfast buffet and spa….watch this blog!
