Nahm

Bangkok, April 2017 – Mr. King and I spent our first night in Bangkok at the award-winning restaurant, Nahm by Chef David Thompson.   Located inside the contemporary hip hotel, Metropolitan by COMO, Nahm is a major attraction for tourists seeking a taste of modern Thai cuisine.

The restaurant was completely full. We sat at a table on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool. It felt like a kind of an oasis in the midst of this bustling city.

Time to eat….

Nahm Beef Salad_new

Smoky Beef Salad with Mint & Lemongrass – This beef was superb. We loved the smoky flavor of the beef and the refreshing salad made from mint leaves, shallots, garlic and lemongrass.

Nahm Pomelo Salad_new

King Fish Salad with Pomelo, Lemongrass and Lime – Although the portion was quite sumptuous, there was too much dressing which made the dish a bit soggy.

Nahm Prawns with Relish_newNahm Relish_new

Chiang Mai Grilled Chilli Relish with River Prawns, Crunchy Pork Crackling and Steamed Vegetables – The waiter recommended this dish to every table of guests sitting on the terrace. Only thing was that he didn’t warn us about the extreme spiciness of the “relish” which was made of eggplant, tomatoes, shallots and chili. The steamed vegetables were supposed to counter the strength of the chili relish.

Nahm Steamed Fish_new

Steamed Coral Trout with Bang Rak Yellow Beans and Pickled Garlic – The coral trout was very fresh and the seasoning was perfect. This was Mr. King’s favorite dish of the evening.

Nahm Swimmer Crab curry_new

Coconut and Tumeric Curry of Blue Swimmer Crab with Calamansi Lime – We were so glad that we added this curry to our order. This was the most impressive dish of the evening. There was also a generous portion of crabmeat. The curry – a medley of flavours including coconut milk, dill, basil and other herbs – was delectable.

Nahm is ranked #8 – Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017.
