Paris, October 2014 – Breakfast (or in French, petit déjeuner) is my favorite meal of the day. How you start your day is how the rest of the day will go!
Mr. King, Little K (my toddler son) and I had a charming breakfast at Ladurée’s Champs-Elysées Salón de té on a warm, sunny autumn morning.
We ordered the “Ladurée Petit Déjeuner” (Eur30), which included a basket of breads and pastries, a fruit bowl with pineapple, watermelon and strawberries, two eggs (your choice of style, I selected sunny-side up) with ham, fruit juice and coffee.
We also made an a-la-carte selection – Oeufplat avec bacon (eggs with bacon) – (Eur8). Little K loved their croissants and ate 2 big ones!
Though the breakfast set was a bit expensive, we felt that the ambience and décor made it worthwhile. I have always adored the pretty bone china in pastel colors, and in my mind, the mix and match of pastel color bone china has become synonymous with Ladurée. Since the Ladurée cafés are usually quite crowded during afternoon tea and lunch hours, we cherished the quiet moments during breakfast hours to admire the beautifully furnished salon.
Ladurée is renowned for their macaroons and pastries, and one cannot leave Paris without having tasted their macaroons or take home “A Little Taste of Paris”. One must also have a look at their endless trays of gorgeous cakes…who can resist such sweet temptations?
Visiting Ladurée is like being Alice in Wonderland !

Lucky! 💚
