Singapore – My craving for New England clams, Massachusetts oysters and USDA steaks, was cured…when we headed to Luke’s Oyster Bar & Chophouse. The eatery is located inside an established department store, Robinsons at The Heeren and has an impeccable view of the city’s famous shopping district – Orchard Road. The décor is modern and stylish. The menu features seafood from the Eastern Seaboard of America, USDA steaks and Boston lobster. The girls, Hilda and Mina and I decided to share a few starters and mains. Take a look at our order!
Oysters from, Wellfeet , Katama Bay and Beaver Tail, Massachusetts.
Clams Casino – bacon, spring onion & noilly prat vermouth
The clams were lying on a bed of sea salt, cloves and peppercorn. The bacon added a strong meaty flavor to the clams.
Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail – homemade cocktail sauce, lemon & celery leaf
This homemade cocktail sauce was zesty and refreshing. The shrimps were huge!
Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes – Maryland style, grain mustard & coleslaw
Indeed we tasted the “lumps” of crabmeat in every bite.
Luke’s Bone-in Tenderloin au Poivre – 300 grams, peppercorn crust & mustard cognac jus
The tenderloin could indeed feed three ladies. The steak was well seasoned.
Thick Cut Tomato & Onion – blue cheese vinaigrette
I enjoyed the tomatoes, but wished there were more tomatoes and fewer onions.
We deliberately saved room for desserts.
Double Fudge Chocolate Brownie with peanut butter ice cream
This brownie was gorgeous, but one must be prepared for the richness.
Luke’s Coconut Cake
What can I say…light, fluffy and full of coconut flavor…like the menu stated, Best in Town!
I also heard from various friends that Luke’s Blue Label Burger is juicy and very delicious. A word of caution before heading to Luke’s, make sure that you go there on an empty stomach. The meal is sure to be filling and fulfilling!
