London, December 2016 – According to The Financial Times (in 2010), the best roast duck in the world is found at Four Seasons Restaurant in London. Four Seasons uses a secret formula for seasoning of their Chinese style barbeque roast duck.
Actually, we have visited the Four Seasons Restaurant in Chinatown a few times on various trips to London, but didn’t realise that their duck so “world-acclaimed” until a branch opened in Singapore 3 years ago. At the Chinatown location, there is always a long queue for dinner. This trip, we patronized the Bayswater branch for a late lunch at 1:30pm; fortunately, there was no queue.
Mr. King and I found the duck meat succulent and juicy while the skin was crispy. The ducks were from Ireland, so they had just the right amount of fat.
We also ordered a few other traditional Chinese dishes such as sweet & sour pork, beef brisket stew and Singaporean noodles (curried flavour). All were authentic and delicious.
The restaurant was casual and décor was basic. It was also pretty kid-friendly, and they allowed my toddler boy sleep on two chairs while we ate our late lunch.
