Zuma Hong Kong 2017

Hong Kong, June 2017 – Even after nearly a decade, Zuma Hong Kong is still one of my favorite restaurants (last post on Zuma Hong Kong, click here) in this vibrant city. Although the menu has quite a few signature dishes like the Miso Marinated Black Cod Wrapped in Hoba Leaf, Zuma also offers newer creations and interesting choices.

Lunch is a fabulous deal with two set lunches to choose from – Kuebiko Lunch Menu (HK$380) or Hotei Lunch Menu (HK$550). Both menus include choice of 2 starters and one main dish. The Hotei menu features Zuma’s signature dishes and those with more expensive ingredients such as wagyu beef, beef tenderloin and premium sushi.

Five of us went to Zuma for lunch, and we ordered 2 Kuebiko and 3 Hotei lunch sets. It was a great idea to share so that we tasted a variety of dishes.

Starters from Kuebiko menu, Spicy Avocado Maki with Yuzu and Tenkasu, Nigiri Sushi, Italian Tomato Salad and Beef Tataki with Pickled Daikon and Truffle Dressing (this beef had an interesting combination of flavours and textures).

Starters from Hotei menu, Robata Grilled Octopus with Red Yuzu Koshu, Prawn tempura Maki, Tuna Tartare (must try!), Thinly Sliced Seabass with Yuzu (very delicate) and Premium Sashimi.

Charcoal Grilled Brittany Chicken with Red Miso and Pickled Mango from Kuebiko menu – this was good choice, succulent meat with crispy skin.

Miso Marinated Black Cod Wrapped in Hoba Leaf (always delicious!), Spicy Beef Tenderloin with Sesame, Red Chili and Sweet Soy (very tender and such a generous portion) from Hotei menu.

Zuma has an excellent selection of desserts, so I managed to save some space for these sweet treats!

Green Tea and Azuki Bean Cream, Vanilla Topioca with Almond Cookies and Raspberry Sorbet – Gorgeous presentation, but wait till you try it…this was heavenly!

Green Tea Banana Cake with Coconut Ice Cream and Peanut Toffee Sauce – the appearance was not as interesting as the Green tea and Azuki Bean Cream, but don’t underestimate the richness of this decadent dessert.
