Hong Kong, August 2017 – Butterflies, flowers, dreamy cakes, comfy sofas with an impeccable view of Hong Kong harbour…this is afternoon tea at SEVVA. Located at the top of Chater Building, Sevva is one of the most fashionable venues in this cosmopolitan city. The décor of the Lounge is colorful, yet relaxed and the dining rooms (Bankside & Harbourside) – each has a personality of its own. Created by Bonnae Gokson, over a decade ago, Sevva still is one of the most popular restaurants for ladies who lunch.
Sevva’s afternoon set (HK$750 for 2 persons) is a delightful 3-tier tray filled with goodies such as smoked salmon on scones, mushrooms ricecake, gourmet wraps inside Sevva special paper, spring rolls, assorted finger sandwiches, chocolate dipped strawberries and a sampling of their famous cakes. Just the sight of this colorful, decadent tea tray is eye candy enough!
Renowned for artisan cakes, Sevva offers a vast selection of gorgeous creations, but there are a few that stand out. If you love pink, the Marie Antoinette’s Crave made of rose petal, mango & mocha macaroons on pistachio chiffon with cream & raspberries adorned with hundreds of pretty sugar dragées & crowned with pink cotton candy – is for you. My sister had one ordered for her birthday party at Sevva several years ago, and it was a wonderful treat!
The signature cake is Caramel Crunch Cake – which is fluffy light and of course, crunchy. The afternoon tea set usually comes with a piece of this marvelous cake.
Another standout cake is the popcorn and jello cake. You can’t miss it with all those eye-popping colored popcorn on the top. Jello in the fillings add another layer of texture and sweetness.
As you may know from my previous posts, I adore lemon meringue or pretty much any lemon desserts…so I was delighted to find a Lemon Meringue Cake on the menu.
Sevva can satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth, especially on a lazy afternoon.
